Point $Q$ is on a line segment between $P$ and $R$ , as shown.If $PR=12$ and $PQ=3$ , what is the length of $QR$ ?

Solution

Since $Q$ is between $P$ and $R$ , then $PQ + QR = PR$ . Since $PR = 12$ and $PQ=3$ , then $QR = PR - PQ = 12 - 3 = 9$ .
