A triangle has side lengths 3 cm3~\text{cm}, 5 cm5~\text{cm}, and x cmx~\text{cm}, as shown.Figure 0If the perimeter of the triangle is 12 cm12~\text{cm}, the value of xx is

Pick one

Solution

The perimeter is 12 cm12 \text{ cm}. Thus, 3 cm+5 cm+x cm=12 cm3 \text{ cm} + 5 \text{ cm} + x \text{ cm}=12 \text{ cm}, and so x=128=4x=12-8=4.
