If x=3, what is the perimeter of the figure shown?
A number or a short expression. Fractions can be typed as 3/2, and spacing doesn't matter.
Solution
Since x=3, the side lengths of the figure are 4, 3, 6, and 10. Thus, the perimeter of the figure is 4+3+6+10=23. (Alternatively, the perimeter is x+6+10+(x+1)=2x+17. When x=3, this equals 2(3)+17 or 23.)
