In the diagram, PQR\triangle PQR is right-angled at QQ and has QPR=54\angle QPR = 54^\circ. Also, point SS lies on PQPQ such that PRS=QRS\angle PRS = \angle QRS.

What is the measure of RSQ\angle RSQ?

Solution

Since PQR\triangle PQR is right-angled at QQ, then PRQ=90QPR=9054=36\angle PRQ = 90^\circ - \angle QPR = 90^\circ - 54^\circ = 36^\circ.

Since PRS=QRS\angle PRS = \angle QRS, then QRS=12PRQ=12(36)=18\angle QRS = \frac{1}{2}\angle PRQ = \frac{1}{2}(36^\circ) = 18^\circ.

Since RQS\triangle RQS is right-angled at QQ, then RSQ=90QRS=9018=72\angle RSQ = 90^\circ - \angle QRS = 90^\circ - 18^\circ = 72^\circ.
