Algebra Difficulty 1.4 Junior Find the answer Canada

The sum of 1010 positive
integers is 3030. What is the largest
number that can be used in this sum?

Pick one

Solution

To determine the largest possible integer that can be used in
this sum, we let each of the other 99 positive integers be as small as
possible. The smallest positive integer is 11, and so we let 99 of the numbers in the sum each be equal
to 11. Thus, the largest positive
integer that can be used in this sum is 309×1=2130-9\times1=21.
