Notice that because is tangent to circle , and moreover because quadrilateral is cyclic. Similarly, because is tangent to circle , and . Hence,
Triangles and have a common side , and by (1) their angles at are the same. So, these triangles are congruent. So, their altitudes starting from and , respectively, are equal and hence is parallel to line .
