Number theory Difficulty 3.8 AMC 10/12 Find the answer South Africa

One of the factors of 4848 is chosen at random. What is the probability that the chosen factor is NOT a multiple of 44?

Pick one

Solution

There are ten factors: 11, 22, 33, 44, 66, 88, 1212, 1616, 2424, 4848. Four of them are not multiples of 44, viz. 11, 22, 33, 66. The probability is therefore 410\frac{4}{10} or 40%40\%.
