Let ABCDEABCDE be a convex pentagon with perimeter 11. Prove that triangle ACEACE has perimeter less than 11.

By the triangle inequality, we have AC<AB+BCAC < AB + BC and CE<CD+DECE < CD + DE, so AC+CE+EA<AB+BC+CD+DE+EAAC + CE + EA < AB + BC + CD + DE + EA as desired.
