Let ABCABC be a triangle. A line is drawn not passing through any vertex of ABCABC. Prove that some side of ABCABC is not cut by the line.

Consider the two sides of the line \ell. By the pigeonhole principle on the three vertices of ABCABC, two of these vertices, say AA and BB, lie on the same side of \ell. Then segment ABAB does not intersect \ell.
