Geometry Difficulty 3.5 AMC 10/12 Find the answer Soviet Union

Problem:
A spy-plane circles point AA at a distance 10km10\mathrm{km} with speed 1000km/h1000\mathrm{km/h}. A missile is fired towards the plane from AA at the same speed and moves so that it is always on the line between AA and the plane. How long does it take to hit?

A number or a short expression. Fractions can be typed as 3/2, and spacing doesn't matter.

Answer: 18π18\pi sec.

Let CC be the position of the spy-plane at the moment the missile is fired. Let BB be the point a quarter of the way around the circle from CC (in the direction the spy-plane is moving). Then the missile moves along the semi-circle on diameter ABAB and hits the plane at BB.

To see this, take a point PP on the quarter circle and let the line AXAX meet the semi-circle at QQ. Let OO be the center of the semicircle. The angle BOQBOQ is twice the angle BAQBAQ, so the arc BPBP is the same length as the arc BQBQ. Hence also the arc AQAQ is the same length as the arc CPCP.
