3. Given points A(1,2)A(1,2) and B(3,4)B(3,4), there is a point PP on the coordinate axis, and PA+PBP A + P B is minimized. Then the coordinates of point PP are \qquad.

Solution

3. (0,52)\left(0, \frac{5}{2}\right).

Using knowledge of axis symmetry, ruler and compass constructions, and linear functions, we know that the minimum value of PA+Pl3P A + P l 3 occurs when PP is on the yy-axis, which is smaller than when PP is on the xx-axis. Thus, the coordinates of PP are (0,52)\left(0, \frac{5}{2}\right).
