The area of the quadrilateral ABDFABDF is equal to the areas of the two right triangles BCD\triangle BCD and EFD\triangle EFD subtracted from the area of the rectangle ABCDABCD. Because BB and FF are midpoints, we know the dimensions of the two right triangles.
