Geometry Difficulty 3.0 AMC 10/12 Find the answer

A regular dodecagon (1212 sides) is inscribed in a circle with radius rr inches. The area of the dodecagon, in square inches, is:

Pick one

Solution

The formula for the area of a regular dodecagon is 3r23r^2. The answer is (A)\boxed{\textbf{(A)}}.
(If you don't know this formula, it's pretty easy to figure out that the area of a square inscribed in a circle is 2r22r^2, and all the choices except 3r23r^2 are less than 2r22r^2. Remember, the more sides a regular polygon has, the closer its area gets to πr2\pi r^2.)
