On the number line, points M and N divide LP into three equal parts. What is the value at M?
A number or a short expression. Spacing and $ signs are ignored.
Solution
The difference between 61 and 121 is 61−121=122−121=121, so LP=121. Since LP is divided into three equal parts, then this distance is divided into three equal parts, each equal to 121÷3=121×31=361. Therefore, M is located 361 to the right of L. Thus, the value at M is 121+361=363+361=364=91.
