Algebra Difficulty 2.1 Junior Find the answer

If u=6u=-6 and x=13(34u)x=\frac{1}{3}(3-4 u), what is the value of xx?

A number or a short expression. Fractions can be typed as 3/2, and spacing doesn't matter.

Solution

Substituting, x=13(34u)=13(34(6))=13(3+24)=13(27)=9x=\frac{1}{3}(3-4 u)=\frac{1}{3}(3-4(-6))=\frac{1}{3}(3+24)=\frac{1}{3}(27)=9.
