Algebra Difficulty 2.0 Junior Find the answer

If points P,Q,RP, Q, R, and SS are arranged in order on a line segment with PQ=1,QR=2PQP Q=1, Q R=2 P Q, and RS=3QRR S=3 Q R, what is the length of PSP S?

A number or a short expression. Fractions can be typed as 3/2, and spacing doesn't matter.

Solution

Since PQ=1P Q=1 and QR=2PQQ R=2 P Q, then QR=2Q R=2. Since QR=2Q R=2 and RS=3QRR S=3 Q R, then RS=3(2)=6R S=3(2)=6. Therefore, PS=PQ+QR+RS=1+2+6=9P S=P Q+Q R+R S=1+2+6=9.
