Algebra Difficulty 1.9 Junior Find the answer

Jim wrote a sequence of symbols a total of 50 times. How many more of one symbol than another did he write?

A number or a short expression. Spacing and $ signs are ignored.

Solution

The sequence of symbols includes 5 of one symbol and 2 of another. This means that, each time the sequence is written, there are 3 more of one symbol written than the other. When the sequence is written 50 times, in total there are 50×3=150 50 \times 3 = 150 more of one symbol written than the other.
