If m+1=3n−2, what is the value of 3m−n?
A number or a short expression. Fractions can be typed as 3/2, and spacing doesn't matter.
Solution
Since m+1=3n−2, then 3(m+1)=n−2. This means that 3m+3=n−2 and so 3m−n=−2−3=−5.
