Algebra Difficulty 1.4 Junior Find the answer

The integers -5 and 6 are shown on a number line. What is the distance between them?

A number or a short expression. Spacing and $ signs are ignored.

Solution

The distance between two numbers on the number line is equal to their positive difference. Here, this distance is 6−(−5)=116-(-5)=11.
