Suppose that x and y are positive numbers with xy=91, x(y+1)=97, and y(x+1)=185. What is the value of (x+1)(y+1)?

Solution
If we multiply the second and third equations together, we obtain x(y+1)y(y+1)=97⋅185 or xy(x+1)(y+1)=16235. From the first equation, xy=91. Therefore, 91(x+1)(y+1)=16235 or (x+1)(y+1)=9(16235)=1835.
