Algebra Difficulty 2.3 Junior Find the answer

If 50% 50\% of N N is 16, what is 75% 75\% of N N ?

A number or a short expression. Spacing and $ signs are ignored.

Solution

The percentage 50% 50\% is equivalent to the fraction 12 \frac{1}{2} , while 75% 75\% is equivalent to 34 \frac{3}{4} . Since 50% 50\% of N N is 16, then 12N=16 \frac{1}{2}N=16 or N=32 N=32 . Therefore, 75% 75\% of N N is 34N \frac{3}{4}N or 34(32) \frac{3}{4}(32) , which equals 24.
