Algebra Difficulty 1.8 Junior Find the answer

If 4x+14=8x484x + 14 = 8x - 48, what is the value of 2x2x?

A number or a short expression. Spacing and $ signs are ignored.

Solution

Since 4x+14=8x484x + 14 = 8x - 48, then 14+48=8x4x14 + 48 = 8x - 4x or 62=4x62 = 4x. Dividing both sides of this equation by 2, we obtain 4x2=622\frac{4x}{2} = \frac{62}{2} which gives 2x=312x = 31.
