Algebra Difficulty 2.5 Junior Find the answer

How many integers are greater than 15\sqrt{15} and less than 50\sqrt{50}?

A number or a short expression. Spacing and $ signs are ignored.

Solution

Using a calculator, 153.87\sqrt{15} \approx 3.87 and 507.07\sqrt{50} \approx 7.07. The integers between these real numbers are 4,5,6,74,5,6,7, of which there are 4 . Alternatively, we could note that integers between 15\sqrt{15} and 50\sqrt{50} correspond to values of n\sqrt{n} where nn is a perfect square and nn is between 15 and 50 . The perfect squares between 15 and 50 are 16,25,36,4916,25,36,49, of which there are 4.
