La risposta è (E). Le affermazioni "Manuela ha un cane e un gatto", "Manuela non ha né un cane né un gatto" e "Manuela non ha un cane, ma ha un gatto" sono tra loro incompatibili. L'affermazione "Se Manuela ha un cane, allora ha anche un gatto" è vera esattamente quando una (ed una sola) delle altre tre affermazioni è vera; perciò è falsa, insieme con le altre tre, esattamente quando "Manuela ha un cane, ma non ha un gatto". Dunque il numero massimo di affermazioni false è 4.
