Problem 655

Number theory Difficulty 5.2 Find the answer

3 [Divisibility of numbers. General properties]

It is known that x=2a5=5b2>0x=2 a^{5}=5 b^{2}>0, where numbers aa and bb are integers. What is the smallest possible value of xx?

A number or a short expression. Spacing, $ signs and \frac vs / are all fine.

Official solution

The number xx is divisible by 2 and 5. x=2a5x=2 a^{5}, so aa is divisible by 5. Since x=5b2x=5 b^{2}, xx is divisible by 222^{2}, which means aa is also divisible by 2. Assuming a=25=10a=2 \cdot 5=10, we get x=200000x=200000 and b=200b=200.

## Answer

200000.
