Algebra Difficulty 1.1 Junior Find the answer Canada

If 4x+1=134x+1=13, what is the
value of 12x+312x+3?

Pick one

Solution

Solution 1:

Since 4x+1=134x+1=13, then 3×(4x+1)=3×133\times(4x+1)=3\times13, and so 12x+3=3912x+3=39.

Solution 2:

Solving 4x+1=134x+1=13, we get 4x=124x=12 and so x=3x=3. Thus, the value of 12x+3=12(3)+3=3912x+3=12(3)+3=39.
