Geometry Difficulty 1.1 Junior Find the answer Canada

In the diagram, the 5×65 \times 6 grid is made out of thirty 1×11 \times 1 squares. What is the total length of the six solid line segments shown?

Pick one

Solution

We evaluate each of the five choices: 42=164×2=842=242=24+2=64^2 = 16 \qquad 4\times 2 = 8 \qquad 4-2 = 2 \qquad \dfrac{4}{2} = 2 \qquad 4 + 2 = 6 Of these, the largest is 42=164^2 = 16.
