Geometry Difficulty 1.2 Junior Find the answer Canada

In the figure shown, PQRSPQRS
has three sides of equal length and SR=16SR=16 cm.

If the perimeter of PQRSPQRS is 40
cm, then the length of PQPQ is

Pick one

Solution

Since the perimeter of PQRSPQRS
is 40 cm and SR=16SR=16 cm, then the
combined length of the remaining three sides is 40 cm16 cm=2440 \text{ cm}-16 \text{ cm}=24 cm.

Each of the remaining three sides is equal in length, and so PQ=24 cm3=8PQ=\dfrac{24 \text{ cm}}{3}=8 cm.
