What is the area of the shaded region?

The area of PQR\triangle PQR is $12×8 cm×6 cm=24\$\dfrac12\times8\text{ cm}\times6\text{ cm}=24\text{} cm}^2.Theareaof. The area of \triangle PSTis is 12×4 cm×3 cm=6\dfrac12\times4\text{ cm}\times3\text{ cm}=6\text{} cm}^2$.

The area of the shaded region is equal to the area of PQR\triangle PQR minus the area of PST\triangle PST, which is 24 cm26 cm2=18 cm224\text{ cm}^2-6\text{ cm}^2=18\text{ cm}^2.
