Combinatorics Difficulty 4.9 AIME Find the answer Austria

Anthony writes down in order all positive integers which are divisible by 22. Bertha writes down in order all positive integers which are divisible by 33. Claire writes down in order all positive integers which are divisible by 44. Orderly Dora writes all numbers written by the other three. Thereby she puts them in order by size and does not repeat a number. What is the 20172017th number in her list?
(Richard Henner)

Solution

Dora can ignore Claire's numbers, since Anthony has already written them all. Considering the numbers up to 30003000 we see that Anthony has already written down 15001500 of them and Bertha has written 10001000 of them, 500500 of which have been written twice, which are ignored by Dora in their second occurrence. Hence Dora denotes exactly 20002000 numbers up to 30003000. The next 1717 numbers written by Dora are 30023002, 30033003, 30043004, 30063006, 30083008, 30093009, 30103010, 30123012, 30143014, 30153015, 30163016, 30183018, 30203020, 30213021, 30223022, 30243024, 30263026. Thus 30263026 is the 20172017th number on Dora's list.
