Points AA, BB, CC, DD lie on a circle in that order such that ABBC=DACD\frac{A B}{B C}=\frac{D A}{C D}. If AC=3A C=3 and BD=BC=4B D=B C=4, find ADA D.

By Ptolemy's theorem, we have ABCD+BCDA=ACBD=34=12A B \cdot C D + B C \cdot D A = A C \cdot B D = 3 \cdot 4 = 12.

Since the condition implies ABCD=BCDAA B \cdot C D = B C \cdot D A, we have DA=6BC=32D A = \frac{6}{B C} = \frac{3}{2}.
