Algebra Difficulty 1.9 Junior Find the answer

If each of Bill's steps is 12\frac{1}{2} metre long, how many steps does Bill take to walk 12 metres in a straight line?

A number or a short expression. Spacing and $ signs are ignored.

Solution

Since each of Bill's steps is 12\frac{1}{2} metre long, then 2 of Bill's steps measure 1 m. To walk 12 m, Bill thus takes 12imes2=2412 imes 2=24 steps.
