The line with equation $y = 2x +
b passes through the point (-4,0).Thevalueof. The value of b$ is

Pick one

Solution

Since the line with equation $y = 2x +
b passes through the point (-4,0)$, the coordinates of the point must
satisfy the equation of the line.

Substituting x=4x=-4 and y=0y=0 gives $0 =
2(-4) + bandso and so 0 = -8 +
bwhichgives which gives b = 8$.
