Algebra Difficulty 1.2 Junior Find the answer Canada

Katie completed two laps of a track without stopping. The first
lap took 33 minutes and 4545
seconds, and the second lap took 44 minutes and 3535 seconds. What was her total
time?

88 minutes 3030 seconds
77 minutes 5050 seconds
88 minutes 5050 seconds
88 minutes 2020 seconds
77 minutes 4040 seconds

A number or a short expression. Fractions can be typed as 3/2, and spacing doesn't matter.

Solution

Katie’s total time is equal to the sum of 33 minutes and 4545 seconds and 44 minutes and 3535 seconds. Adding 4545 seconds and 3535 seconds, we get 45+35=8045+35=80 seconds. Since there are 6060 seconds in 11 minute, then 8080 seconds is equal to 11 minute and 2020 seconds. Thus, Katie’s total time was
3+4+1=83+4+1=8 complete minutes plus 2020 seconds, for a total of 88 minutes and 2020 seconds.
